Dougherty makes 2010 debut in African Open
The European Tour kicks off 2010 at the brand new Africa Open this week, with Nick Dougherty leading the English charge for victory.
After a three week lay-off for the festive period, the Race to Dubai returns to our screens with action at the East London Golf Club, Eastern Cape in South Africa – the event’s first appearance on the Tour’s International schedule.
The event is the third of four consecutive tournaments in South Africa which launch the 2010 Race to Dubai, with the Alfred Dunhill Championship and South African Open Championship – won by Scotland’s Richie Ramsay – coming before Christmas and the Joburg Open following this week’s event.
This will be the first event of Dougherty’s 2010 season, and he will be looking to add more titles to the BMW International Open he won in 2009.
Also teeing up in South Africa this week is rookie Sam Hutsby who will be looking to get his year off to a firing start, while 20 other Englishmen will also join them in the line-up.
